How to Update or Delete a Job Site (Customers)
Last updated July 6, 2026 · Admins and office staff
Existing job sites are edited and deleted from the Job Sites tab on the customer’s profile page. Editing is where you can also record the site’s measured turf area — a field that isn’t on the add form. A job site with jobs attached cannot be deleted until those jobs are removed.
Before you start
- The customer must have at least one job site — see Add Job Site.
- To delete a site: no jobs may be assigned to it. Check the customer’s Jobs tab for jobs pointing at that site first.
Update a job site
- Open the customer from Customers and select the Job Sites tab (in the Work group).
- In the list, click View on the site you want to change. The View Job Site window opens with its current details.
- Edit any of the fields:
- Job Site Name (up to 50 characters)
- Address Line 1 / Address Line 2 (up to 500 characters each)
- City / State (up to 50 characters each)
- Zip Code (up to 10 characters)
- Measured turf area (sq ft) — whole number, e.g.
12000. Only available here, not on the add form.
- Click Update Job Site. (Cancel discards your changes.)
You’ll land back on the Customer Summary with a green “Success! Jobsite updated successfully!” banner.
Delete a job site
- On the same Job Sites tab, click Delete next to the site.
- Confirm the prompt “Are you sure you want to delete this job site?”.
On success you’ll see “Success! Jobsite deleted successfully!” and the site disappears from the list.
What happens next
- Updates take effect everywhere the site is shown — job records, scheduling, and estimates that reference it.
- Deletion is blocked if any job is assigned to the site: you’ll see “There is a job assigned to this Job Site. Please delete all jobs before deleting this Job Site.” Remove or reassign those jobs first, then retry.
Tips & best practices
- Fill in the measured turf area for any property you treat chemically or price by square footage — it’s the site-level measurement other parts of the product read.
- Prefer editing over delete-and-recreate. Deleting a site breaks its history; renaming or correcting the address keeps everything attached.
- Deleting the customer’s only job site puts them back in a state where jobs can’t be created and estimates can’t be converted — add a replacement site right away.
Troubleshooting
- “There is a job assigned to this Job Site…” — this is the guard described above. Open the Jobs tab, delete (or move) every job that uses this site, then delete the site.
- The View window opens empty — the site’s details failed to load; close it and click View again.
- “Jobsite not found.” — the record couldn’t be matched when saving (possibly removed in another session). Refresh the page and retry.
- “Failed to delete jobsite.” / “An error occurred while updating the jobsite.” — the operation didn’t complete; try again and contact support if it persists.
